Instructions
for use of the PG Profiles in Lightroom (Mac & Windows)
To use these profiles, you should install
them in the correct location for your OS;
Mac OS X: /Library/ColorSync/Profiles (available for all
users)
Mac OS X: User/Library/ColorSync/Profiles
(available for just this users)
Windows XP: C:\Windows\System32\Spool\Drivers\Color
Windows Vista: Right-click on the ICC
profile, and choose "Install Profile"

The Lightroom
Print module; there are several important
considerations and dropdown selections
that must be made correctly in this
module. |

In the Print Job panel,
by default the Color Management setting
is on Managed by Printer. Many printer
drivers seems to have problems properly
accepting Lightroom's color output.
In order to use the Exhibition
Fiber Paper profile, you should
select "Other" under the Profile
dropdown menu. |

When you select Other,
Lightroom will show you a listing
of all output profiles currently
installed on your system. Be sure
to place a checkmark by the SP3800_EFP_PK_2880
profile. |

After selecting the
EFP profile in the preceeding dialog,
select that profile now in the Profile
dropdown menu. |
Print Settings for Mac

Once you've told Lightroom
to use the EFP profile, you'll need
to make print driver specific selections
based on the OS you are running.
The settings imeediately below are
for OS X 10.4.x. Scroll down for
the Windows settings. |

Once you click on
'Print' in the Lightroom Print module
you'll be in the Epson driver. In
the Print Settings drop down under
Media Type, be sure to select 'Premium
Luster Photo Paper' or 'Premium Luster
Photo Paper (260)'. Which selection
you make will depend on the printer
you are using. |

Still in the Print
Settings dropdown, under Advanced
Settings, selct either 1440 or 2880.
The profiles can be used for either,
but they were designed to provide
maximum quality when using SuperPhoto
2880dpi. With the introduction of
the Epson Stylus® Pro x800 (and
x880) series printers, you can print
using High Speed turned off if you've
properly run the auto-align proceedures.
This will literally allow you to
print the highest quality even in
High Speed mode thus making your
printer capable of printing 2X the
speed than if printing in uni-directional
mode. |

Under the Printer
Color Management dropdown, be sure
to click on the 'Off (No Color Management'
option. |

With Lightroom, Photoshop
CS3 (and CS2) there is an issue with
Apple's ColorSync where ColorSync
will mis-apply a "generic RGB" profile
if the printer you are printing to
is not set as the "default" printer
in OS X 10.4.x. This results in modification
of certain colors–particularly
reds and skin tones. As long as you
set the current printer to be the
default printer, this issue can be
avoided. This issue is expected to
be addressed in the future. As shown
above, in Printer Setup Utilit, the
3800 print is made to be the default
printer by selecting the printer
and clicking on the Make Default
button. |

In the example shown
above, the Epson StylusPro 3800 is
in bold, indicating that it is the
current "default" printer. |
Print Settings for Windows

Once you've told Lightroom
to use the EFP profile, you'll need
to make print driver specific selections
based on the OS you are running.
The settings imeediately below are
for Windows XP and Vista. |

Once you click on
'Print' in the Lightroom Print module
you'll be in the Epson driver. In
the Main panel of the Properties

In the Advanced dialog,
make sure you've selected 'Off (No

can be used for either 1440 or 2880,
but they were designed to provide
maximum quality when using SuperPhoto
2880dpi. With the introduction of
the Epson Stylus® Pro x800 (and
x880) series printers, you can print
using High Speed turned off if you've

Lightroom Printing Templates

We highly suggest
making printing templates in Lightroom
to make printer easier and less error
prone. Whenever you change anything
in the Lightroom Print module, you'll
see your saved template will be dimmed,
meaning that the current template
is no long active. If you wish to
save all the current settings in
the template, you'll need to right
click on the template and choose
Update With Current Settings. |
